Homemade Pizza Fakeaway & Dough Balls | Zanussi Fakeaway Recipe

*This post was created in Partnership with Zanussi, and I was gifted this oven, however, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.*

Have you seen that I am partnering with Zanussi UK on their Fakeaways campaign? I am the 'Queen of the Fakeaway' after all!

I have already shared a delicious Chilli Beef Fakeaway RecipeChicken Katsu Curry, Christmas Burger Recipe and Salt & Pepper Chips Recipe that I created with my Zanussi AirFry oven, and I am delighted to share another new recipe with you!

The key to a great Fakeaway is creating some of your favourite takeaway meals, but we far fewer calories.

I absolutely LOVE pizza, but if you order from the popular takeaway places, the tomato sauce is absolutely PACKED with sugar, and the base is thick and heavy (yet still so good!) This version, however, is much much better for you!

Zanussi provides clever, simple, solutions for ease of use and enjoyment at home, and I have absolutely loved getting creative with my Zanussi ZOPNA7X1 oven with AirFry technology.

Gone are the days where I need to store a big, bulky extra air frying unit. The Zanussi oven has it all built-in one. This makes life so much easier and is perfect for making your own Fakeaways.

The AirFry technology is great for creating pizzas too, thanks to the airflow and AirFry tray. It creates the most delicious, crispy base, and cooks the toppings to create perfect pizza every time.

As well as the pizza, I also made doughballs with te leftover dough, who could ask for anything more from a Fakeaway night in!!

Tips to reduce calories in this dish

If you don't want to have a full dough pizza, you could use a tortilla wrap instead for the base.

Alternatively, you could create this with wholemeal flour, or even wholemeal bread mix.

Portion or weigh the cheese to avoid overdoing it!

Homemade Pizza Fakeaway & Dough Balls

You will need:

To make the dough:

400g plain flour, plus extra to dust
1 x 7g sachet fast-action dried yeast
1 tsp fine sea salt
1 tsp caster sugar
2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra to drizzle

To make the Pizza Sauce:

Keeps well in the fridge for 1 week or stored in a container in the freezer.

1 small onion, finely chopped
1 large garlic clove, crushed
1 can chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp of sweetener or sugar
Handful basil
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Toppings of your choice:

Mozerella, pepperoni etc.

Garlic butter:

4 teaspoons of butter/low-calorie spread
1 Garlic clove, finely diced
pinch salt & pepper

For best results, use the Zanussi oven. Otherwise, use a normal oven and follow the same cooking instructions.

Put your oven on the Airfry setting and 180 degrees.

To make your pizza dough, mix the flour, yeast, salt and sugar together in a mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle then add about 225ml water and the oil to bring together as a dough.

Flour your work surface, then tip the dough out onto it. Knead with your hands until it becomes smooth.

Leave in the bowl for 5 minutes, then split the dough into 2. One half will make the pizza/pizzas and the other half will make the doughballs.

With the doughball half, roll the dough into a sausage. Chop slices off to make small chunks. Leave them in an ovenproof dish for 30 mins to rest.

To make the sauce, spray a frying pan with low-calorie cooking spray. Add the onions and fry off for 10 mins, until softened. Add in the garlic, chopped tomatoes, oregano, sweetener, basil and tomato puree.

Simmer for 10 mins, then remove from the heat. Add to a blender and blitz until smooth.

When ready to prepare the pizza, roll to dough out and press out to be your desired shape. I went with 1 large pizza, but you could make mini individual pizzas too.

Put a little cooking spray on the tray, or flour, to stop the pizza sticking. Add the base to the tray, then add the toppings.

Add the tomato sauce, then layer out your toppings.

Cook for 15 mins, or until pizza is cooked and cheese bubbling.

Add the doughballs in for the last 10 mins of cooking, directly onto the AirFry tray, and mix the ingredients for the garlic butter together.
